The power of small

Phycom got the ball rolling back in 2008, with a small team, all armed with biomedical and biotechnological expertise. The mission: to improve and strengthen the availability and the quality of food for both humans and animals. Enter microalgae as significant food source. Nowadays, Phycom has developed a sustainable and complete industrial production system. With two full-scale factories operational, Phycom is one of Europe’s largest and most innovative algae producers. Phycom has great ambitions and that is why it’s time for the next step in there development.

C-Roots was asked to show what they stand for, what there ambition is, and make the identity visible. To be seen and heard, to convince people of there ideals. The most important tool for this is the corporate identity and the way in which we communicate with the stakeholders. The starting points for this are set out in a Rootsbook, the brand manual where identity and brand become one. 

Recent decades have seen an enormous shift in food choices and food habits. Scaled-up operations to cater for global markets have consequently and unfortunately led to the rise of products that are reconstituted, less well nutritionally balanced and resource intensive. Resulting in health risks. Added to all this, there is a global and ongoing population explosion with insufficient food to feed all the mouths. There is a gap between what is available today and what’s needed tomorrow, whilst the necessity to reduce agriculture’s environmental impact is ever-present, even in regions where economic and social development is a high priority. The reality is far-reaching global hunger set against a backdrop of both inefficient and environmentally unfriendly farming practices.

Phycom's high-yield algae can supply more and healthier food with unique production processes that aim to be, circular and sustainable, every step of the way. C-Roots developed the brand concept, corporate identity, video, website and communication strategy for Phycom, a client with a clear commercial and idealistic objective.
