the believe in yesterday

Retro, hipsters, vintage, we are going crazy. In music, design and art everywhere, and much more mainstream rather than a passing trend. In the '90s Hajo Francken and I made an ad about "the believe in yesterday" how the stragglers caught up with the innovators. Then we thought it to bea sharp observation... Now  it is inevitable and also confusing because the icons of yesterday feel like a warm bath. But where is the change, the true new when even the ideals from the past are embraced? There is hardly a truly new sound or is there? ...Might this believe in yesterday be the widely accepted new view, the big change? If it is, it's finally not about bigger, better and newer. It's finally all about meaning and as such our belief in yesterday has gotten a much broader and deeper sense.
